Lauren and Nick’s wedding day was perfection from start to finish!

The day of, I walked into her room at the Pasea Hotel in Huntington Beach and was met with a beautiful suite with tons of natural light and a group of the prettiest bridesmaids! Le Pique Beauty did a flawless job with hair and makeup and I squealed when I first saw Lauren because she already looked drop-dead gorgeous long before she was done getting her beauty on!

There were so many special moments before the wedding even started. Lauren and Nick exchanged love letters, she gave gifts to her parents and bridesmaids, and we took a few quiet moments to get stunning photos of her on the balcony connected to her room.

My favorite memory from the day is literally SPRINTING to and from the beach after we finished photos with their bridal party! We were racing the sun setting and it’s a good thing Lauren and Nick are both personal trainers, because running in the sand is a workout! We made it to the beach and caught some epic sunlight. The wind made for some amazing movement in photos, but also did a number on Lauren’s hair, so we RAN to wash her feet off at one of those beach showers before heading back to her hotel room for touchups. She accidentally pressed the wrong button and water came from the top of the shower and not at the bottom! She got a refreshing little beach shower, but was all smiles and good humor and we sped off to try to fix her hair and makeup before their grand entrance. I remember laughing so hard as we ran barefoot down the soft carpet towards their room at the end of the hallway and scampering to plug in a hair curler and find some makeup for her to apply.

It’s the messy, real-life moments that make your day so special. I am so grateful for amazing brides like Lauren who are filled with positivity and joy. What most people don’t realize before their wedding day is that YOU control your experience. Unexpected things are always going to happen in life (including your wedding day!) and the only control you have is how you choose to handle them. Make the decision to always choose courage, humor, and grace.

Your wedding day is what you make of it and I can tell you straight up that Lauren and Nick had one of the best days of their lives that day. It was truly magical.

Enjoy some favorites of mine from the day!

Something that most of my couples prooobably don’t know is that I usually try to Instagram stalk them once I get their inquiry. I like to put a face to the email and it’s always fun to get a more intimate look into their lives and what they enjoy posting. The minute I clicked over to Lauren’s account, I pretty much immediately knew we would get along great, just based on her profile description that consisted of only three words…

“Mostly puppy pictures…”

BOOM! SOLD! That’s all I need to know. Please be my best friend!

Anyone who is as obsessed with dogs as I am is a guaranteed perfect CSP bride if you ask me! Not only that, but she also went to the same college (go Gauchos!) so we had a blast chatting about the unique places/experiences/shenanigans that UCSB offers during their Malibu engagement session. Lauren’s fiancé, Chris, is a tall, dashing Scotsman that she met 3 years ago on a dating app. And now they are engaged!! How crazy is that? I think it’s beyond cool how technology is bringing people together.

Rhianna contacted me a few months ago about taking some post-wedding photos at the gorgeous Terranea resort in Palos Verdes! While they were getting married in Pennsylvania, Terranea has always held a special place in her heart and she knew she wanted to include the location in her wedding memories. I had a blast getting to know these two during their session and was seriously so impressed by how well Rhianna was able to navigate the steep, rocky cliffs in her dress! She was the biggest trooper with getting up to epic spots at the resort and I can’t get over how beautiful the photos turned out!

Here are some of my favorites from the day! Enjoy!

Can we chat for a minute about these two? David and Maria really are two peas in a pod and just have the BEST dynamic as a couple! You aren’t going to find a duo with a better sense of humor or two more loving people. We spent the entire session laughing and having the best time. My favorite moment of the shoot was actually right at the VERY start when I put David and Maria into their first pose. As soon as I took my very first photo, David gave the biggest smile and just YELLED with excitement, saying “I can’t believe this is happening! It’s real!”. He was so pumped (just like every man should be) to marry the love of his life that he couldn’t contain himself when he fully realized that they were ENGAGED!! Is that not perfectly lovely?!

It’s not everyday that you get to photograph a Disney Channel star and former Miss Delaware, so I have to admit that I was pretty nervous walking into their session! Within moments of meeting them, though, all of that disappeared because they really are just the BEST sort of people. I’m 99% sure that Maria is actually my soul sister (we have the weirdest/funniest text conversations) and I know that they are in for the most wonderful life together.

David and Maria, I LOVE you guys! Thank you for being such a fantastic example of true love. It’s couples like you that remind me why I adore my job so much!

Carina and Eric were pure JOY to photograph! I love when, after tons of emailing back and forth, I get to meet my couples in “real life” and we automatically click like old friends! At the beginning of the shoot, I shook Eric’s hand and by the end, he was calling Carina and I “his girls” and hugging me goodbye haha. THE BEST! I absolutely can’t wait for their big day!

Here are some of my favorites from their session at El Matador State Beach :).

Kristin M. - Ohhhhh I love these pictures! Shoot … I wish I could have been a snail on a rock nearby to watch another round of how you perform with a client since you were so close to me. I love the natural ease from all these photos. Just beautiful!

Question for you — what time of day did you do this shoot. The lighting is perfect and I still struggle with beach shoots not being overexposed.

    Thanks girl!ReplyCancel
